Juventus have been handed a big blow on the injury front following the news that both forwards Alvaro Morata and Paolo Dybala will miss the Champions League Group H clash with holders Chelsea when the two teams meet on Wednesday night. Juventus play hosts to Chelsea with the two teams targeting a win to maintain their unblemished start to the new Champions League season.
Argentine international Dybala had to be substituted just after he opened the scoring in the first half of the Sampdoria game at the weekend due to injury. Juventus were able to record back-to-back league wins for the first time this season thanks to the 3-2 win at home to Sampdoria buoyed by the opening goal from Dybala. Ex-Palermo attacker Dybala exited the game with a muscle injury and around the midway point of the Serie A encounter. He had earlier given Juve the lead on 10 minutes.
On his part, Morata lasted for 82 minutes before being subbed off after he picked up a hamstring problem during the Sampdoria game. The Spaniard was replaced by Italian international Moise Kean in the Juventus attack. Morata didn’t score for the Old Lady during the latest clash with Sampdoria as Leonardo Bonucci (penalty) and summer signing Manuel Locatelli were also on target. For Sampdoria, Maya Yoshida and Antonio Candreva were on the scoresheet.
Both Morata and Dybala are also expected to miss the Turin Derby this weekend in addition to the Chelsea game. The two attackers won’t be in the squad for the away game with Torino as Juventus attempt to move up the standings as far as the Italian Serie A is concerned. The win over Sampdoriawas able to push Juventus into the top ten for the first time since the opening weekend of the new league campaign in the Italian top flight.
