In 1998, Annette Baron designed and built her own glass studio, where she teaches and creates her art. Baron has a bachelors degree in Music from Western Michigan University and has studied glass at the Toledo Museum of Art and Tidal Wave Glass in Toledo, Ohio and at Michigan Hot Glass in Detroit, Michigan. The mystery of glass, either classic or abstract, has always fascinated Baron. Her works are draped like honey, shaped with wood, steel or paper, and shaped by intent or serendipity. While she is a musician by training, she has created textures on form that writhe and twist around a vessel, while others dance into their own shapes. Baron’s goal in her art is to combine color and light, forms both classic and aleatory; glass is time and rhythm.
